    Every night, David Wamsley places a strap on his forehead that records the duration and quality of his sleep. In the morning, he steps on a digital scale that monitors his weight. When he goes for a run, he brings along another device that spits out data such as distance traveled and calories burned. When Wamsley heads to work, he clips on a step counter that reveals how far he walks during the day.
